Sideboard Color {just thinking….}
I really want to add some color into our new living room and dining area! I’ve had this wonderful sideboard that we picked up about 5 years ago from the IKEA clearance section. I adore the finish on it and it has worked so well but we are going to have a pretty dark finish on the Paula Dean Table…so I wanted something that was either going to blend in with the wall completely or add something that would complement the gray of the wall without adding to much contrast. After browsing Layla Grace Furniture Collection, I just fell in LOVE with these yellows!

Shutters are IN!
We had our shutters installed downstairs Friday!!! Loving them!!!
Before:
When we first moved into our home back in July 09’ it didn’t have any window treatments…the previous owners decided that they needed to take them ALL! Why? lol! I don’t know, but we have lived without them all this time! We had sunscreens that gave us tons of privacy and blocked out the harsh HEAT! Which is nice but the down fall was that it blocked out tons of sun…I absolutely love the sunshine and light shining through my windows! It’s beautiful!! So we took them off on most of the downstairs windows…in return we had NO privacy and WAY to much sun:0)

After:
So the shutters where the perfect solution! They give us a lot of sunlight during the day, doesn't put any glares on our tv and gives us the privacy that we want and well they just look pretty! We choose the 4.5 in louvers and had them sprayed and AZ white with no extra charge! I’m so happy and my hubby is even happier about the amazing deal we got on them!

What a difference right?

We did the downstairs kitchen as well and the office WILL have shutters too!!

So great doing things to our home little by little! A year and a half without anything on my window just about drove me crazy but it was worth the wait!

Target Finds and Wallpaper Quotes
Pin It
SO THIS MORNING I HAD A AUSTRALIAN FELLOW COME GIVE ME A QUOTE TO HANGUP my wallpaper. I think it was a pretty fair price for the wallpaper and labor included. I kept asking him questions just so I could hear his accent…lol. Then he told me he was from ENGLAND….yep I felt like a dump dump. Even though I really would love to DIY, I am excited to just have it done for me…lol. I guess it’s just the “princess” in me:0) But you better believe I will be taking notes…looking and watching so I can do it myself one day. Money well spent…show stoppin wallpaper, PRO-fessional labor and a mini lesson!
I also packed up all the babies and headed to Target today and snagged these Smith and Hawken HEAVY flower pots. Aren’t they pretty?
I found them in the clearance section…you know the wonderful back isles of TARGET where you find all the goodies. The original price said 9.99 and they were 90% off…I am no math genius but that would be 99 cents right? I found the nearest scanny thingamagig and yep! 99CENTs!! So I got 6 for myself and 2 red ones for my mom! NOW…they are looking a little prettier aren’t they'! lol!
Well, we are still preparing to paint…I put up a few samples and they were a no go. BUT as I was shopping in TARGET and my quick little stop at Ross…I realized something about MY DÉCOR STYLE…what I really love and what I really want my house to look like. But by the time I got home…..I forgot. hahaha..really I did.
But I think it had something to do with the NAVY blue rug from Target…

Prime Time….
The Mr. and I started to prime last night….who knew this stage could be sooooo BORING….hahaha!

As you can see my max reach is about 6ft….I’m a shorty;0) I’ll get him to finish when he comes home…I would get up on the ladder myself…but today I feel clumsy and the kids don’t know about 911 yet:0)

Here is the wallpaper we will be ordering soon. The best quote I have found is from STEVES. Any other suggestions?
Now the other big question is PROFESSIONAL or DIY??? Reggie is all about having a professional come DO EVERYTHING “Baby let’s paint”…"ok let me call someone”…"Shoozz(don’t even ask.hahaha), I think we need cabinets in the office”…"Ok, do you know someone who could hook us up?”…lol…me on the other hand, I rather learn how to DO. IT. MYSELF(chest out;0)
The thing about this wallpaper is that ONE, it’s kinda expensive aka fancy, so I don’t want to MESS it UP and TWO it has a pattern so it MUST be lined up correctly…what to do what to do. Have any of you ever put up wallpaper? IF so was it easy or hard? Are you all for the PROS or DIY?
We are picking out paint colors to got with the paper….It’s not as gray as it appears in the picture above…so I think I can get away with a creamy color like in this picture….

I used a wonderful BJ color in my pantry early this year and I LOVE it but I think I might need to go lighter …I wonder what color this wall is?
We also picked out our dining room set….well unless we find a better one;0) You know nothing is really set in stone with me….This one is by my girl….PAULA DEEN ya’ll. I’ve gone country!!! Ohhhhhh you didn’t know she makes furniture, well she does and it’s LOVLEY!

This was really love at first sight for me…I was just a little hesitant because of the country label BUT I must say it is far from country for me! We packed up the kids Saturday and headed out to our local Thomasville and got to view it in person and OH MY! It is beautiful!!! The internet sometimes just doesn't do things justice;0) It had the super curvy flirty turned legs just like I LOVE and that was on my inspiration board….minus a couple 1000 dollars;0) It also comes with two lovely host and hostess slipcovered chairs.
Here’s some more inspiration for our new space…..

I think we’re gonna go with a sofa and two chairs laid out similar to this one above. pic via craigslist

I like how quiet this room seems:0) and the gray sofa is beautiful and looks comfy! pic via craigslistpic
This Candice Olson design is similar to the layout I am working with…shared living and dining room. She does it so well! The lighting stands out in this room for me! Every space that need to be lit IS! I’ll let this be my study guide;0) Speaking of Candice…did you all watch her new show, CANDICE TELLS ALL! Its great! Check it out on your local HGTV channel.
We also went sofa shopping…but that subject needs it’s own post! lol!!

Living Room and Dining Room….and so it begins!
So I finally got the ok from my hubby to start decorating the shared living room and dining room in our home! Oh you know I have been waiting for this DAY!!!! I’ve had an idea of what I wanted all along so I just can’t wait to get started.
Check out some of my ideas via Olioboard….

Can you kinda tell what direction I am headed? I really can’t sum up my style in one or two words…and least not yet…lol! I love mixing and matching and contrasting just like Candice Olson does! Shiny and Matte….Traditional and Modern…..Masculine and Feminine makes for a space that’s comfy and inviting. Not sure what pop of color I want to bring into this room but I am loving aqua and gray right now…

I’m dying to try that scrolled gray and white/cream wallpaper and I ordered a sample from Seabrook, that is to die for! I first saw it on Becky Higgins sight and new I had to have it. Her friend is an interior designer and ordered it for her when they were working on her home….OMG…LOVE. I will be using it on one wall only because it’s sorta on the pricey side! I can’t wait!
Of course I already switched out my dirty carpet before we moved in and got some dark wood floors(which I am having a hard time keeping clean-any suggestions??)
I also would love to build a mantel for a fireplace or start off with one of those above on the oliboard and make it a little chunkier with some wood and a handy man:0)
Here are some photos that are also inspiring my space transformation……
all pictures are via InspirationforDecoration
BUT first we have to prime and paint and then wallpaper….booooooo…I just want to decorate!!!!
