Homemade Living Room Pillows

I was so excited to receive my fabric last week from Fabric.com!

I got started right away with this fabric…..

Premier Prints Twill Chipper White/Storm Grey

I used the fabric to make pillow covers for my down inserts for my living room sofa.

Remember these blue beauties I bought from Plush Studios:0)

I took those and added my homemade pillows to the mix!

Complete with hidden zippers!

They were so fun to make and easy too!

I also used the black and white hounds tooth for some dining chair pillows!  The scale of the the fabric was not what I expected BUT I still like it! Still on the hunt for the LARGE scale hounds toothWinking smile

I can’t wait to see what drapes do to this space! I still don’t know if I should go solid or patterned. What do you think?

The gray taupe color, blended to much with the living room sofa, but will be a GREAT contrast against these chairs in the family room with some zebra too!

Do you make your own pillows? What’s your favorite fabric right now?

{New Sofa and New Pillows} Living Room Update

If you follow me on Facebook then you know a while back I received my new sofa that I talked about a few months back!  Reggie and I ended up choosing the very last one that we got from a local business in Chandler,AZ that I found via Craigslist, Model Home Marketplace. Robert Michael Savannah Sofa:0)

Remember I wanted english arms, turned legs and a lighter colored sofa! Well this sofa met all  of those requirements and came in at about 950 dollars. Much MUCH less than anything else we were looking at! We choose the down fill option for the upgrade and a durable fabric for easy clean ups and any spills that MAY occur:0)

Here it is with 3 24x24 pillows and a kidney pillow all in a yellow and gray color scheme! We are so happy with it!

I picked up some Ralph Lauren down filled pillows for 8.00 each from Homegoods and added them to the pillows that where there. The colors of these pillow would be perfect for my family room but I just wanted to see what a 20x20 pillow would look like with the others:0)

I’ve been looking for some pretty pillows to go on the sofa in the color scheme that I was going for which is blue and yellow with taupes and grays.  Originally I was going to go with a navy but decided to go with more of an indigo color.  I came across the etsy pillow company Plush Studios when I was browsing through Kristin’s blog 6thstreetdesignschool. I went to her shop and  fell in love with these P.Kaufmann floral pillows! I received them last week  sweetly packaged and I immediately stuffed them with down filled pillow inserts! She even makes matching napkins:0)

They look great and are very well made! I think a lot of times I’m afraid to order things on Etsy because with some items you don’t want that “homemade” look. I gotta tell you these pillows are professionally sewn and professionally made with care! I was VERY happy with my purchase! Erin, your doing a great job!

My next purchase will be some larger or smaller pillow in a charcoal gray to compliment the wallpaper. I like these chevron/ zigzag ones she has in her shop!! Aren't they cute!

Light Gray Cheveron 16x16inch decorative pillow cover

These ones from Cooper-Grey are calling my name also:0)

Or I may just order my own fabric and whip some up myself!

This Robert Allen will bring in the texture I need.

But this BOLD STRIPE…ohh I love it!

Classic Linen Stripe . Stitched Linen Stripe . 18 x 18 inches . White . Charcoal . Linen . Stripe

Right now I’m looking for some new rugs! I want to go with something with a natural texture. Maybe a woven rug with a subtle pattern or maybe a jute rug in a light color.

Totally loving  the lighter look that’s coming to our place…..

The process is wonderful and we are excited about all the changes that we are making slowly put surely!

Sofa Shopping

Pin It IMG_4540_5694
This weekend the hubs and I went hunting for a sofa all over town:0) Day one we dragged all three kids along with us. I’m sure they had tones of fun…:0) Day two we left them with my parents and took a couple of hours to do some final decision  making with no distractions!
So from the beginning I had my heart set on THIS amazing sofa from Layla Grace.
living room copy1

Perfectly Perfect. English rolled arms. Chocolate turned feet on casters. Layered feather down white pillows in the back and sitting pretty at 2600 dollars.
Well that baby was way out of our budget but it was a great starting point! I did some measurements and decided that the room could handle a sofa between 76-86 inches. Anything smaller would look unfilled and anything larger meant we would have no end tables. We also wanted something in the cream and white family. This is gonna be our investment sofa so we were willing to spend no more than 1500 for what we wanted. I know this seems like a lot of money and its ok if you are shocked or don’t agree…lol..I feel the same way about people who spend 10,000 dollars on a sofa…lol:0)))  I’m a bargain shopper for REAL but after living with sofas for almost 6 years that look absolutely  hideous, we both are willing pay more and get something that is QUAILITY. Something that’s gonna last us more than 5 years:0) I want the BEST stuff for CHEAP:0)
We hit up these stores and found all of these lovely options …here’s what we thought….

These first two were from ZGallerie. We loved the tufted back on this one!
We did a little test drive and we decided that this one was just a on the small side 79 inches….Reggie's is a little over 6ft so when he sat on it, it just looked weird…like he was sittin on half the sofa…lol. No rolled arms and it had a skirt which I wasn’t to fond of.

This one was also from Z gallerie. We loved the tuffs on the seat and it was a pretty deep sofa which made it very comfortable. The arms did roll out but not english style. It had the loose pillows like the Layla Grace one…and the turned feet!:0) It was a beauty.

Restoration Hardware was having an amazing sale on some of their floor models!!! BUT none were the size we were looking for. They had this one for 1200!!!!!! 112inches of loveliness… omgoodness if I had the room:0)

We looked at the English arm collection they had, but with out that amazing sale it was out of our price range as well.

Next we went in a place called Bungalow. I heard they sold Lee Industries and Mitchell and Gold sofa collections so I was excited to see what they had on sight and any floor models for sale. This store is SOOO amazing I love the styling of it! I was in design heaven…it made me dream about having my own store someday:0) We found this amazing little number for 1400 by Mitchell and Gold…
chester_uph_sf
It was a pretty white. Tufted back. Rolled arms…not English and was the right size and in our price range. It was the floor model so it was a bit dirty and showed dirt easily so we said no….even though it was a great deal,it wasn’t PERFECT:0) But man it was hard to walk away from that one.

Next we went to a Rowe Dealer in Tempe. A girlfriend of mind recommended that we go there because Rowe provides sofas for companies like Zgallerie and Pottery Barn. When you buy directly from them you can get it about half off! So we went! The sales lady Michelle was super nice and let us flip through a gazillion samples and help us narrow it down. She quoted us on a down filled, English arm sofa, turned feet at 1299..great price! We picked out these samples for the sofa……

We also contacted Model Home Marketplace in Chandler who I found on craigslist about this amazing sofa….

….english rolled arms…turned feet…cream/white family!!! and only 845…..:0) You know I’m a happy girl! It would be extra for a down fill but only 100.00 more. It comes with these yellow feather down pillows that would go great with the color scheme I picked out!

So which one did we go with!?!!! You’ll see in about 2-4 weeks:0)..lol!
To keep myself busy, I picked up these hanging baskets from Tuesday Morning the other day and hung by the front door. I also picked up this large frame at a garage sale for 5.oo:0) I hung it in the entryway and I’m visualizing our next family pictures in this pretty frame!

Living Room and Dining Room….and so it begins!

Pin It So I finally got the ok from my hubby to start decorating the shared living room and dining room in our home! Oh you know I have been waiting for this DAY!!!! I’ve had an idea of what I wanted all along so I just can’t wait to get started.
Check out some of my ideas via Olioboard….

Can you kinda tell what direction I am headed? I really can’t sum up my style in one or two words…and least not yet…lol! I love mixing and matching  and contrasting just like Candice Olson does! Shiny and Matte….Traditional and Modern…..Masculine and Feminine makes for a space that’s comfy and inviting. Not sure what pop of color I want to bring into this room but I am loving aqua and gray right now…

I’m dying to try that scrolled gray and white/cream wallpaper and I ordered a sample from Seabrook, that is to die for! I first saw it on Becky Higgins sight and new I had to have it. Her friend is an interior designer and ordered it for her when they were working on her home….OMG…LOVE. I will be using it on one wall only because it’s sorta on the pricey side! I can’t wait!
Of course I already switched out my dirty carpet before we moved in and got some dark wood floors(which I am having a hard time keeping clean-any suggestions??)

I also would love to build a mantel for a fireplace or start off with one of those above on the oliboard and make it a little chunkier with some wood and a handy man:0)
Here are some photos that are also inspiring my space transformation……
